- Why is Chlorpheniramine Maleate used? Chlorpheniramine Maleate is used to relieve allergy symptoms such as skin rash, itching, redness, sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes.
Do not take chlorpheniramine maleate:
- If you are allergic to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- If you have closed-angle glaucoma.
- If you have symptoms of an enlarged prostate.
- If you have a urinary tract obstruction/are unable to urinate.
- If you have an intestinal obstruction/unable to have a bowel movement.
- During an acute asthma attack.
- If you are taking or have recently taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) antidepressant.
Warnings and Precautions:
Tell your doctor about all your health conditions, including if you have:
- Seizures or epilepsy.
- Liver or kidney disease.
- Asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
- Hypothyroidism.
- Cardiovascular problems such as high blood pressure
- Urinary tract problems.
- Avoid consuming alcohol while taking this medication.
Possible side effects:
- Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you experience throat tightness, swelling of the eyes, face, lips, or tongue, feel faint, or have difficulty breathing. Stop using the product if you experience hives or itching of the face or body.

- Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take.
- Do not take this medicine with other antihistamines including cough and cold relief products.
- Medications for anxiety, depression, or seizures affect how chlorpheniramine maleate works. Do not use them at the same time.
How to take chlorpheniramine maleate:
- Chlorpheniramine maleate is for use only in adults, adolescents, and children 2 years of age and older.
- For adults and children over 12 years of age, take 4 mg every hour. Do not exceed 24 mg in 24 hours.
- For children aged 6–12 years, take 2 mg every 6 hours. Do not exceed 12 mg in 24 hours.
- For children under 2–6 years of age, take 1 mg every 6 hours. Do not exceed 6 mg in 24 hours.
How to store Chlorpheniramine Maleate:
- Store this medication at room temperature 68 to 77°F (20 to 25°C) in a dry place.
- Keep this medicine out of reach of children.
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date printed on the carton.
